Role Description:
We are seeking a dynamic Senior Accountant to step into a pivotal leadership role within our team.
This full-time, on-site position is based at our office in Theale (1 day per week working from home after successful probation) and offers a unique opportunity to not only manage your own portfolio of clients but also to lead and mentor a team of part qualified accountants.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting team including: bookkeeping, financial reporting, account reconciliation, tax preparation and customer queries.
Assist the Practice Manager, organising the workflow to ensure efficiencies and meeting of deadlines.
Provide leadership, training, and management to less qualified staff, fostering a supportive and skill-enhancing environment.
Maintain a reduced client list to ensure personalised and high-quality service.
Contribute to business planning and growth strategies in line with our ambitious revenue targets.
Engage with key clients, producing management accounts, cashflow forecasts and budgets along with analysis of the same to the owners in order to support business advisory meetings.
Prepare and finalise year-end accounts for limited companies & sole traders.
Prepare CT600 computations & Complete and review self-assessment tax returns for company owners and high-income individuals, advising on payments on account and dividend planning.
Review bookkeeping data, prepare and file VAT returns (standard, flat-rate and partial-exemption).
Supervise and review junior workpapers, clear query logs, and sign off files before partner review.
Qualifications
Experience in managing financial records and preparing financial statements
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of tax planning and compliance
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
Professional accounting certification (e.g. ACCA) is a plus
