About the Role



We are seeking an experienced fully qualified accountant to join our growing accountancy practice on a hybrid working basis. The ideal candidate must be based in Glasgow or the surrounding areas to facilitate occasional in-person meetings and client interactions as required.

This role provides an excellent opportunity for a proactive and client-focused individual to work with a diverse portfolio of clients across various industries. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality accountancy and advisory services, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while supporting business growth and client success. The candidate will report directly to the Business Owner and will be expected to contribute to the strategic growth and development of the practice.

Key Responsibilities



Preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies in compliance with UK GAAP. Preparation and submission of corporation tax returns (CT600) and self-assessment tax returns. Preparation of management accounts, including variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to provide clients with key financial insights. Conducting cashflow forecasting and financial modelling to assist clients in managing their finances and making informed business decisions. Managing client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor, and providing proactive business and financial advice. Handling financial reconciliations, ensuring accurate records and timely reporting. Reviewing financial information and providing key insights to help clients improve their financial performance. Assisting clients with tax planning, compliance, and advisory services. Ensuring compliance with HMRC and other regulatory bodies, keeping up to date with changes in tax laws and accounting standards. Liaising with clients, HMRC, and other relevant parties to resolve queries efficiently. Supervising and supporting junior team members, assisting with training and development. Working with cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and other relevant platforms. Providing strategic input and working closely with the Business Owner on key business decisions, operational improvements, and practice development.

Essential Requirements



Fully qualified ACCA (or equivalent) accountant with post-qualification experience in an accountancy practice. Based in Glasgow or the surrounding areas Strong technical accounting knowledge, including UK GAAP and tax regulations. Experience in preparing year-end accounts, corporation tax returns, and self-assessments. Proven experience in preparing management accounts, cashflow forecasts, and financial reports. Proficiency in cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage. Excellent communication and client management skills, with the ability to explain financial information in a clear and accessible manner. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently while maintaining close collaboration with the Business Owner.

Desirable Requirements



Experience with advisory and business support services for SMEs. Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior staff. Strong commercial awareness and ability to contribute to the growth and success of the practice.
