About the role:
The Cancer Biomarker Centre (CBC) aims to enhance clinical trials of new anticancer drugs through translational research. Histological and molecular profiling of patient samples is essential to understand clinical disease heterogeneity, to profile drug targets and to identify biomarkers for precision medicine approaches in oncology.
We are currently seeking to appoint a Scientific Officer with a keen interest in the development of novel therapies to improve cancer patient outcomes. With support and discussion from Team Leader, the post holder will conduct translational research focusing on tissue-based biomarkers within a collaborative partnership between the Cancer Biomarker Centre and Boehringer Ingelheim. This exciting opportunity is available immediately. You will become part of a wider team testing efficacies of novel therapeutics with parallel development of tissue biomarkers to optimise their application in the clinic.
About you:
You should have a BSc (or equivalent) in Biological Sciences or related subject (or have equivalent relevant experience). You will have relevant experience in working in a Life Science Laboratory. Although in-house training in specialist techniques will be provided where required to acquire the necessary skill set, you will have experience in immunohistochemical (IHC) methods, including chromogenic and immunofluorescent analysis methods, in biomarker analysis of clinical tissue and biomarker assay development and validation.
Key qualities include independent thinking, ability to work in a team and good communication skills, all of which are needed to efficiently work in a multidisciplinary team.
