Vacancy: Scientific Information Analyst

As a Scientific Information Analyst, you will provide expert searching and analysis of scientific, patent and commercial information for colleagues across Johnson Matthey, while advising on available resources and developments in information provision.
You will join our Technology & Market Intelligence team at a time when Johnson Matthey is expanding our capability in key sustainable markets across the globe.
The attitude you will bring will shape the direction of the role. To be successful, you will be a proactive person, able to interact successfully with internal and external stakeholders. This role will suit someone with a core Scientific background who has the natural gravitas to build relationships and knowledge of specialist databases, public resources and digital tools. You will be expected to work independently with guidance from the line manager and from other members of the team.

Your responsibilities:
Provide a scientific, patent and commercial information resource for colleagues across the Johnson Matthey Group
Carry out expert searching, analysis and visualisation of information using specialist databases, public resources and data manipulation tools. Contribute initiative, innovation and creativity.
Prepare relevant, concise and informative reports focusing on the needs of JM colleagues.
Guide colleagues to end-user tools where more appropriate
Build relationships with colleagues from across the JM group to promote the service and enable more proactive provision of information
Build own knowledge of specialist databases and other resources. Make recommendations to the team of potential new resources, ensuring value
Support and guide the dissemination of news and information across the JM group.
Contribute to the development and use of advanced data manipulation tools to support the above
Utilise knowledge of Science and Technology and how this applies to JM\xe2\x80\x99s products and business.
To carry out any other duties which are within the employee\xe2\x80\x99s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed
Requirements for the role:
Degree, or equivalent experience, in physical sciences, engineering, information management or a closely related subject
Be skilled at and enjoy problem solving through analysis of data and information. Able to identify and summarise relevant aspects in line with customer requirements
Demonstrate excellent research skills; it would be desirable to have experience of searching technical or commercial databases
Able to demonstrate a broad view and understanding of Johnson Matthey\xe2\x80\x99s global operations
Knowledge of advanced data manipulation tools (Desirable)
