Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a Science Technician to join a secondary school in Haringey for an immediate start.

Role: Science Technician

Salary: \xc2\xa312-13.50 per hour

Hours: 8.15am - 4.00pm Monday to Friday, term time only

Role Overview:

As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in creating a stimulating and safe learning environment for students.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and setting up equipment and materials for science practical sessions
• Have a good understanding of Health and Safety requirements
• Organising lab equipment, chemicals, and materials, ensuring stock levels are sufficient and placing orders as needed.
• Assisting in lessons
• Monitoring and enforcing health and safety regulations within the laboratories, prioritising the well-being of staff and students.
• Assisting in the proper disposal of hazardous waste materials following established protocols.
• Collaborating with the Science Department to develop and improve practical resources, experiments, and demonstrations.
• Supporting the Science department in conducting demonstrations and experiments during open evenings and other school events, when required.

Requirements:

To excel in this role, we are seeking candidates with the following qualifications and qualities:

• Previous experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably within a school or college.
• An interest in science and an understanding of scientific principles.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to adhering to health and safety procedures.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with teachers, students, and staff members.
• Proficiency in using basic laboratory equipment and familiarity with scientific software and computer applications.
• A proactive and flexible approach to work, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.

• Ideally be a science grad or have A levels in Science
• Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
• CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible
• Legal right to work in the UK
