Job Description

We have opportunity for an enthusiastic, positive and motivated Scheme Support Officer to join our Swansea Young Persons service (Woodfield) on a part-time (32hrs) permanent basis.

Part of your role will also include sleep-in shifts at the scheme, where you will be provided with a secluded area that includes a bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen facilities. Sleep ins start at 23:00 whereby you will sleep in the staff area of the service and shift will start again at 07:00.

You will be paid an allowance of 51.11 for each sleep-in.

Where does the role fit it?

Swansea Young Persons service provides temporary accommodation to young people age 16-24 who are experiencing homelessness. The service delivers intensive housing related supported to individuals who are ready to gain independence and a tenancy of their own.

As a Scheme Support Officer you will support our Young People in developing the key skills needed to prevent homelessness. You will support them to improve financial capability and to develop the skills to settle into the community and achieve positive progression.

What skills and experience do you need?

To excel as a Scheme Support Officer, you don't necessarily need previous experience or specific qualifications. Instead, this role requires:

Our goal is to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to live independently. This is a challenging role that involves addressing complex behaviours and needs, including alcohol misuse, mental health issues, substance misuse, and offending behaviour.


You will encounter a variety of personalities and behaviours, some of whom may be resistant to the support we offer. Therefore, you must be adaptable in your approach to engaging with a diverse clientele.
