The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is a Programme of activities that is improving the railway between York and Manchester via Leeds and Huddersfield.
\xe2\x80\x8b\xe2\x80\x8b\xe2\x80\x8bStretching across the North of England, this key 76-mile Transpennine railway serves 23 stations, crosses over and dips under 285 bridges and viaducts, passes through six miles of tunnels, and crosses over 29 level crossings.

Brief Description
Scheme Project Managers work across the full portfolio of Network Rails infrastructure investment from minor renewals through to complex multi-disciplinary programmes. Accountable for managing the safe and effective delivery of low complexity projects (LoC 3 and 4) OR working as part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting the project or programme manager deliver key outputs of complex projects and programmes (LoC 1 and 2) in order to meet client requirements to time, cost, quality, and performance. You will be supporting the Project Manager in delivering the Diversionary Routes Phase 2 and C-ASDO projects, alongside assisting with the closing down of the Diversionary Routes Phase 1 project.
About the role (External)
Some of the key accountabilities of this role, but not limited to are:
1. Accountable for delivery of low complexity projects or parts of complex projects in a safe & environmentally responsible manner to time, cost and quality, in accordance with the Governance of Railway Investment Projects (GRIP), applicable Network Rail company standards, current legislation and procedures including HMRI guidance where appropriate.
2. Support the Project Manager and Project Sponsor in preparing and maintaining definitions of the project requirements.
3. Manage multi-disciplinary teams including commercial, programme controls, engineering, and others to identify solutions to client requirements and establish a robust baseline plan.
4. Identify and monitor project risks (threats and opportunities), plan and implement mitigations to them, and respond to other issues that affect the project.
5. Implement and update resource allocation plans needed for delivery of the project including identification and management of critical resource requirements. Secure resources needed for projects from internal and external sources.
6. Managing stakeholders, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests.
7. Managing project reviews at appropriate points throughout the project lifecycle which will inform governance decisions of projects by providing evaluations of progress, performance, risk, contingency, and continuing relevance.
8. Establish, and implement where necessary, protocols to change the scope of projects and updating configuration documents as required.
9. Support accident investigations when remitted to by the relevant designated competent person.
10. Collating Health & Safety File information and key project documentation.
We need you to have:
\xc2\xb7 Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
\xc2\xb7 Membership (or working towards membership) of the Association for Project Management.
\xc2\xb7 Good stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
\xc2\xb7 Successful relevant experience including experience of contracting and project delivery.
\xc2\xb7 Knowledge and experience of project budget management.
\xc2\xb7 Good evaluation and decision-making skills.
\xc2\xb7 Project safety management and Health and Safety legislation knowledge.
\xc2\xb7 Knowledge safety cases in support of projects.
It would be advantageous if you have:
\xc2\xb7 Experience in the Rail Industry Sector (including application of PACE and Construction Design Management (CDM) on simple projects).
\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of Network Rail\'s Project, Investment, Commercial and Procurement practices.
\xc2\xb7 Experience in risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.
\xc2\xb7 Flexible and pro-active approach.
\xc2\xb7 You will be a team player with willingness to learn, challenge and get involved alongside using your initiative.
\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of Network Rail\'s assets and how they are managed through the Asset Management Process (AMP).
\xc2\xb7 A good understanding of the requirement of Health & Safety Files, relevant contents, and experience in collating these.
\xc2\xb7 Working knowledge of CSM (Common Safety Method) guidance.
