The Book Operations team supports the Commercial teams, by monitoring, supporting and testing the systems used to supply our clients with products.
Key job responsibilities:
To operate production software to fulfil client requirements and meet delivery schedule 100% on time and without re-work.
To control, support and where necessary initiate processes that collect and load electronic files from data suppliers into backend systems. To ensure loading schedules match cycle times so customer deliverable deadlines are achieved.
To oversee the validation and aggregation of data used to supply National and International Book Charts.
To maintain and update retail panels through a comprehensive understanding of their structure and the mechanics behind them.
To support systems by following correct procedures following system failures or data errors. To respond promptly to queries from stakeholders and customers.
To undertake project work and support new initiatives where requested by Manager without making commitments that will impact on \'business as usual\' targets. * To support the Scan Comms Analyst in processing Scan retailer files and dealing with issues arising
Additional Job Responsibilities:
Test set ups for new territories
Resolve data anomalies and identify root cause, escalating to supplier management teams where necessary. Follow up on missing data and load failures to meet loading and delivery deadlines.
Verification of successful loading. Identify missing data and incomplete or incorrect loads.
Oversee the validation and aggregation of data used to supply National and International Book Charts.
Provide prompt response to queries from internal and external customers.
Work with Infrastructure/App Dev to resolve technical problems.
Maintain and analyse production stats.
Conduct User Acceptance testing for new or changes to existing applications when required.
Attend 1-2-1 meetings and agree work plans with manager.
Attend regular meetings, conference calls or other relevant activities.
Key Functional Skills/Competencies:
Essential:
Minimum Entry Level GCSE English and Maths
Highly proficient general PC skills
Ability to manipulate data within MS Excel
Demonstrated experience working to deadlines
Experience analyzing, validating or reconciling data
Ability to determine, solve or escalate problems
Ability to manage own workload effectively
Preferred:
A level education or above
Knowledge of FTP protocol
Knowledge of command line editors in Unix and Linux
Knowledge of relational databases and/or SQL script writing
Previous experience with Cognos or other BI tool
Previous experience of Book Retailing, Publishing, EPoS Systems or Market Research
Role is ideal for fresh graduates or candidates with 1/2 years of experience
