Key Accountabilities

SGS often operates day to day on a technical and operational level with B2B customers, however, also benefits from regular contact with customers procurement departments. This role focusses on procurement manager engagement, contacting existing SGS customers to connect and ensure procurement managers view SGS as a strategically important supplier partner.

A consultative approach is required, working autonomously but to specific, measurable, productivity targets, updating customers procurement systems with relevant SGS service information as well as creating and maintaining a procurement timetable for each customer.

The role would suit experienced candidates from a procurement background; however, this is not a procurement role. The role focusses on speaking to procurement managers in a business development capacity using knowledge and experience of procurement processes, systems, philosophies, and methodologies. This role is private sector and as such cannot rely on customers publishing spend activities in the public domain.

The role involves finding the right person to engage with in the customers procurement department, contacting them, then speaking to them on the telephone, by email, and MS Teams to ensure customer procurement managers have all the information needed to maximise their commercial relationship with SGS.

Qualifications

How to be a successful candidate
  • Procurement qualification or
  • Time served to demonstrate experience working with procurement departments
  • A procurement background, or extensive experience working with procurement departments.
  • This could be public sector; however commercial focussed procurement would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with eProcurement systems, tender portals / platforms.
  • Experience completing questionaries to support procurement applications/processes.
  • Experience in a highly technical B2B environment.
  • Experience working in an environment aligned to the sales/customer contact aspects of this role.
  • Experience working successfully within a performance measured CRM based environment
Desirable
  • Proven track record of delivering Customer Service Excellence
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
  • Customer Service or Sales qualification
