Our Commercial & Industrial division designs, fabricates and constructs structural steelwork for a variety of different sectors including commercial offices, stadia & leisure, industrial & distribution, data centres, retail and health and education.

Vacancy Details
In the Resp. Welding Coordinator position you will take the lead on all welding-related quality and compliance activities within our structural steel manufacturing operations. From producing weld plans and coordinating NDT and QC processes to managing welding qualifications and resolving complex non-conformances, you'll ensure every weld meets the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for welding procedure qualification records (WPQRS) on material before welding.
If not qualified for grade of material then review metallurgy and run trial tests organising third parties to witness tests.
Produce Weld Plans
Coordinate activities of NDT.
Coordinate QC activities.
Ensure that everyone is qualified in line with welding regulations.
Deal with more complex non-conformances i.e. crack in weld, lack of fusion etc
Investigate and follow rectification procedure for more complex non-conformances. Work with NDT and Production Manager to develop a solution.
Maintain welding qualification records.
Sign off NCRs.
Complete a review for new projects looking at materials, position of weld and type of weld.
Attend Technical Reviews.
Complete paperwork for Traceability and special customer requirements.
Key Skills & experience
The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of the main welding processes typically used for structural applications within heavy engineering environments. They must have an International Welding Specialist (IWS) qualification.
You'll also
Be familiar with national and international codes and specifications required within a heavy engineering environment.
They will come from a quality background and understand Quality Systems and Standards, from a technical or engineering related background, with knowledge or welding/fabrication/metals.
Have or be able to achieve Responsible Welding Co-Ordinator (RWC) accreditation.
You will hold health and safety to the highest regard and focused on ensuring delivery on cost and quality targets.
Desirable to have Knowledge of EN1090-2, NHSS Series 1800
