About LMH Summer Programmes


LMH is looking to appoint a Residential Manager to contribute to the practical organisation and running of the College's short academic summer programmes. LMH Summer Programmes are intensive courses of study for visiting students, consisting of lectures, seminars, and tutorials alongside a social and cultural programme of trips and activities.

Programme Dates:


Session 1:

30 June - 18 July 2025

Session 2:

21 July - 8 August 2025

Session 3:

11 August - 29 August 2025
Once appointed, the Residential Manager will need to be available for paid training days in late June.
The Role


We are seeking a compassionate and organised

Residential Manager

to join the LMH Summer Programmes team. This is a key pastoral and operational role that ensures the wellbeing of our students and the smooth running of the residential experience.

The Residential Manager acts as the

deputy to the Commercial Operations Manager

and oversees the work of Group Leaders, Residential Advisors, and Student Helpers. While not leading the team in name, you will provide day-to-day supervision, hands-on support, and welfare leadership to both staff and students.

Key Responsibilities



Pastoral & Student Welfare Leadership
Be the primary pastoral lead on-site: ensure the emotional and physical wellbeing of students is prioritised at all times Oversee and support the work of Group Leaders and Residential Advisors in monitoring student welfare Respond promptly and sensitively to wellbeing concerns, incidents, or behavioural issues, escalating as needed Foster an inclusive, safe, and respectful residential environment Be approachable, visible, and proactive in engaging with students Coordinate emergency response in line with College policy and liaise with senior leadership
Staff Supervision & Coordination
Support the day-to-day management of Residential Advisors, Group Leaders, and Student Helpers Provide hands-on guidance, feedback, and team coordination throughout the programme Help organise rotas, briefings, and task allocations in collaboration with the Commercial Operations Manager Maintain the Residential Daily Log, recording the events of the day, hours worked by the team, and any health and safety / risk assessment updates. Coordinate the sharing of overnight duties, ensuring that a member of the residential team is on call for any issues that arise. Cover for Residential team member(s) if needed (e.g., during illness or emergency)
Social & Cultural Programme Management Support
Work closely with the Commercial Operations Manager and LMH Summer Programmes Leadership team to support the planning and delivery of student events and trips Oversee staff presence and logistics during on- and off-site activities Ensure the social programme contributes to a vibrant, inclusive student community
Communication & Liaison
Act as a central communication hub between residential staff, students, and LMH administrative teams Ensure announcements and updates are delivered clearly and in a timely fashion Maintain accurate records of incidents, welfare concerns, and programme updates Person Specification


Essential


Strong leadership experience in a residential, pastoral, or educational context Proven track record of supporting student welfare and managing safeguarding concerns Warm, empathetic approach and excellent listening skills Strong interpersonal and team management abilities Highly organised with excellent time management and the ability to multitask Calm and decisive under pressure Culturally aware and sensitive to the needs of international students Comfortable working long and flexible hours, including evenings and weekends Right to work in the UK

Desirable


Ideally pursuing a post-graduate qualification within the University of Oxford, or having just completed an undergraduate degree. Previous experience in residential life, youth programmes, or safeguarding roles Experience working with young adults in high-pressure environments (e.g., summer schools, boarding schools, youth programmes) Terms and Conditions


Hours & Availability


Working hours are expected to be around 44 hours per week. A flexible attitude is required, as there will be evening and weekend work. Paid training in

Pay:

16.32 per hour (14.56 + 1.76 holiday pay per hour)
