The Role:



University of Portsmouth Residence Life Team supports new and returning students, focussing on halls of accommodation, using the Residence Life model of community activities and individual support. Our aim is to provide students with the resources, support and skills to navigate their first year and the transition into University Life. With the goal of promoting a positive student experience, wellbeing and a sense of belonging through advice drop in sessions, 1 to 1s, peer to peer support, social events, awareness campaigns and educational activities.


We are looking for a proactive, creative and organised Events Coordinator to support the administration, promotion and delivery of the Res Life programme of social events, educational activities and awareness campaigns in halls of residence, around campus, on social media and in the local community. A large focus of the role should be the overall engagement of students with existing support, much of this would be social media based.



To succeed in this role, you will need to have a flexible and committed approach to work, strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others, whilst being independent and self motivated. You will need to lead our student Residence Life Assistants in preparing and hosting events, be confident speaking to students as well as internal university and halls staff, dedicated to building a sense of community among students and proactive in maximising engagement with new students, and have the knowledge of the student experience in halls to guide this.

The working pattern for this role is weekday evenings, Monday - Friday 4pm - 8pm to meet the needs of the service. Flexibility to this working pattern to fit around candidates academic timetables will be considered at the discretion of the hiring manager, and will be dependent on service needs.

This is a fixed term appointment to March 2026.
