The role

You will be welcomed into AstrobiologyOU, an interdisciplinary research group investigating the feasibility of life beyond the Earth, and the associated scientific, governance and ethical implications.

The Open University is recruiting for a microbiology research technician based in the STEM faculty funded by the UK Space Agency International Bilateral Fund.

The postholder will carry out various microbiology and molecular biology duties to support the ongoing planetary protection research within the AstrobiologyOU. The role will centre around microbial culturing, sampling in clean room environments, data collection and analysis.

Skills and Experience

You will have an undergraduate degree in a STEM subject (preferably microbiology, molecular biology, environmental or biological sciences with a strong element of microbiology), with proven experience within a microbiology or molecular lab. You will have good organisational and data management skills in order to support our ongoing research projects.
