UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science (ICS) is based in the Faculty of Population Health Sciences. About the role

A part-time research technician funded by the British Heart Foundation is required to work as part of a team to to support studies investigating a novel regulator of vascular function that may be linked to hypertension . This project is based on previous data showing that blood vessels from constitutive POU4F2/Brn-3b KO mice developed vascular abnormalities and contractile dysfunction linked to deregulation of genes regulating calcium signalling and stress responses. The researcher will help to generate maintain different mutant strains, undertake genotyping studies and assist with different different aspects of the research to investigate changes in vascular integrity and function.


About you

Applicants must have a BSc in biomedical science / physiology / biochemistry or an equivalent qualification. They must have experience in basic laboratory techniques (e.g., solution preparation, pipetting, tissue culture, PCR). Candidates must have the ability to efficiently organise their work, communicate effectively and work well in a team.
