The Department of Clinical and Movement Neurosciences is a world-leading group that brings together expertise across the clinical and basic science spectrum of the physiology and pathology of human movement and movement disorders. The Department incorporates groups from the Queen Square and Royal Free campuses of the Institute and includes the Reta Lila Weston Institute and the Movement Disorders Centre.
Based with the Department, the Morris Research Group is working on the ExPRESS study, an NIHR/MRC funded study aiming to improve early diagnosis of the atypical parkinsonian conditions such as Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), Corticobasal Syndrome (CBS) and Multiple System Atrophy (MSA).
About the role
------------------
We are now recruiting a motivated Research Study Assistant to join the Morris Research Group and support the ExPRESS study.
You will work alongside the atypical parkinsonism research team to assist in the coordination of ExPRESS. You will be responsible for liaising with participating ExPRESS study sites across England, Wales and Scotland, acting as the main point of contact for the study, and will work closely alongside other NIHR/MRC funded projects that are a part of the same Rare Disease Research Network, taking part in activities arranged by the network to collaborate on research into rare diseases.
You will be responsible for disseminating information about the ExPRESS study and increasing patient engagement by working alongside the Rare Disease Research UK Network, engaging with relevant charities and patient groups, and developing and delivering various patient and public involvement activities and meetings.
The post is available immediately and funded by grants awarded to Professor Huw Morris for one year in the first instance.

About you

You'll have an Honours degree in Neuroscience (or a relevant discipline) coupled with experience of working or conducting research in an academic environment and excellent data analysis and writing skills. Excellent communication, project management, time management, and interpersonal skills are essential for this role, as is the ability to act on your own initiative and problem-solve and work without close supervision.
This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.
