The role

Join our team as a dynamic and forward-thinking Research Project Manager for the prestigious ESPRC-funded "TORUS" Programme Grant. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of ground-breaking research that aims to revolutionise the development of a cure for Parkinson\'s disease, a field that has faced immense challenges for decades.

As the Research Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overcoming the longstanding obstacles that have hindered progress in Parkinson\'s research. The TORUS research programme is focused on an innovative approach that addresses the significant difficulty of measuring the effectiveness of new drugs in improving patients\' symptoms and quality of life. By utilising a cutting-edge platform of sensing technologies, specifically designed for use in patients\' own homes, along with an advanced data fusion and machine learning pipeline, we will accurately measure changes in mobility-related behaviours over extended periods of time, spanning weeks and months.

Working in collaboration with esteemed partners such as Bristol and Newcastle University, as well as the NHS and prominent multinational pharmaceutical companies, this project offers an exceptional opportunity to drive impactful change at the intersection of Engineering, Computer Science, and Health Science. You will be part of a diverse and interdisciplinary team, combining expertise from various fields to tackle one of the most significant challenges in medical research.

What will you be doing?

  • Provide project management support, ensuring adherence to University policy and good practice.
  • Manage project processes, including planning, procurement, and maintenance of technologies.
  • Support project risk management and develop contingency plans.
  • Contribute to quality assurance processes.
  • Monitor and control budgets, oversee procurement and recruitment.
  • Plan and develop effective communication strategies.
  • Proactively handle intellectual property, negotiation, and contract management.
  • Stay updated on project aims, research areas, funding bodies, and industry sectors.
  • Line manager a research administrator.
  • Take ownership of day-to-day project management and delivery.
  • Support development of strategies, business plans, and grant applications.

Additional information

Work pattern: Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week.
