The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is a world-leading institution dedicated to improving health through research, education, and capacity building in tropical medicine and global health.





An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Research Nurse to join the Clinical Sciences Research Team. We are an expert team focusing on TB and Post-TB, developing clinical interventions that improve the health of populations across the world. We aim to improve care for disadvantaged populations globally. You will work in the Accelerator Research Clinic at LSTM and with the NHS teams in Liverpool who deliver the Liverpool TB service.





The successful candidate will provide support clinical and administrative support to the team in the delivery of clinical research in the Accelerator Building at LSTM, with a focus on the RESPOST study of lung health in people who have previously been treated for tuberculosis (TB). You will be actively recruiting participants and collecting samples within our pioneering research team. The successful candidate will help to ensure that the planned clinical studies continue to run effectively and efficiently whilst maintaining the highest standard of care and complying with GCP.

Key Responsibilities:



Clinical







Perform research visits, observations, clinical procedures, vital signs, venipuncture, spirometry and respiratory sampling Ensure accurate documentation of visits and events, updating databases as required Co-ordinate the case load of clinical study participants with support from the Research Team Ensure the safe administration of treatments and drugs within the context of a clinical study Ensure that study specific investigations are undertaken as required by the study protocol Arrange investigations, follow-up and ensure that all results are presented to medical staff and are where required are subsequently filed into patient's medical records

Research





Work across mainly as part of the Asthma and Lung-funded Post-TB study (RESPOST) Carry out clinical procedures, treatments and collection of clinical samples and specimens in line with study protocols Report and record any adverse events and study deviations in accordance with study protocols and in collaboration with the trial management team Assist in identifying strategies for recruiting participants to clinical studies Set-up and attend recruitment events, to promote the research to the public and recruit volunteers

Administration







Carry out the collection of data, and accurate completion of research documentation as appropriate Assist the creation and maintenance of site files Ensure that clinical study recruitment records are accurately maintained Maintain databases to track stock requirements and use throughout a study Assist with archiving of clinical studies as required

General



Obtain informed consent as delegated by the Principal Investigator and within the parameters of the protocol Contribute to all aspects of the delivery of clinical trials Maintain a high standard of patient care in line with the facility's policies and procedures and the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research Ensure that all clinical research activity is ICH GCP compliant and conducted in accordance with the agreed protocols and SOPs

The ideal candidate will possess:



NMC Registered Nurse BLS/ILS certification GCP Trained or willing to complete GCP immediately ARTP Spirometry Trained or if not, willing to enrol and complete the course immediately Substantial post registration experience Phlebotomy skills Maintain databases to track and monitor recruitment
