Purpose of role
Do you have experience of working in UK University post-award research finance? Are you looking for a flexible position with the option of remote working (with on-site working when required)?
Northeastern University London (NU-London) is expanding its research base and is looking for a knowledgeable and self-sufficient individual to set up and lead its post-award research finance function. The successful candidate will develop robust processes and procedures for managing research finance that adhere to external regulations; be the first point of contact for research finance queries; lead on relevant institutional audits, help to manage the institution\'s budget for PhDs and contribute to the development of a full economic costing model for the University.
The successful candidate will have experience of post-award finance in a UK research-intensive university, have first hand-knowledge of a range of funders, including UKRI, EU Horizon Europe and UK learned societies and charities. Experience of knowledge exchange/innovation funding would be beneficial.
You will be required to work collaboratively: liaising with the Director of Research Services, academics, senior leadership, finance, HR, Northeastern University and external bodies such as HESA, OfS and national funders.
NU London is not currently eligible to receive UKRI funding and thus this position will initially be focussed on developing best practice and robust procedures to support the University\'s growth whilst managing our existing, small, grant portfolio and PhD budget. It\'s an exciting and unique opportunity to set up research finance from the ground up in an ambitious institution seeking to expand.
