The Department of Biology is looking for a Research Fellow to join an exciting, rapidly expanding international research project which seeks to reduce the environmental impacts of thousands of farms worldwide using digital tools.
You will hold a PhD/DPhil in a relevant subject (e.g. environmental/development/agricultural economics, geography, agriculture) with proven post-qualification experience. You will possess specialist knowledge in developing research projects and methodologies, including experience of designing and implementing randomised control trials and impact evaluations. You should have excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities, and a strong publication record within a relevant field. You will also have a demonstratable enthusiasm for, and knowledge of, farming and sustainable agricultural practices, with proven fieldwork experience.
In this role, you will be part of the senior leadership team for HESTIA, a growing and motivated team of environmental scientists, software developers, and behavioural change specialists. You will lead on the design and implementation of experimental trials of the HESTIA Farm Sustainability Toolkit in a range of geographies and contexts and build capability within the team on robust intervention design and evaluation methods. A key dimension of your role will be to design, implement and evaluate a randomised control trial (RCT) in the UK.
You will have responsibilities ranging from experimental design, implementation and evaluation, coordinating with the HESTIA platform development team, relationship management with project partners and donors, managing field teams, and leading on journal paper writing, fund-raising, writing project briefing notes and reports.
