We are recruiting the Colin Maclaurin Research Fellow to join the project funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore foundation to study and model the origin of life. The project is a collaboration of three leading UK universities. The Colin Maclaurin Research Fellow will be part of a vibrant and interdisciplinary research community and will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of topics within and outside the field of mathematics and its applications. The post will be based at the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics at the University of Aberdeen, which is part of the School of Natural and Computing Sciences.

###

This position is a homage to Prof Maclaurin and will be involved in developing equally ground-breaking work, this time aligned with the Aberdeen 2040 Vision of interdisciplinary research. Professor Colin Maclaurin: In 1717 Professor Maclaurin was elected professor of mathematics, following a ten-day competition at Marischal College. Aged just 19 he became the world's youngest professor, a record that endured until March 2008. During his career he made important contributions to geometry and algebra. The Maclaurin series is named after Professor Maclaurin.

This post is the ideal opportunity for an ambitious, collaborative, and interdisciplinary researcher to develop their skills and build a track-record for future work in academic and/or industry contexts.

Salary will be at Grade 6, 38,249 per annum.

Informal enquiries should be made to Dr Juliano Morimoto, Senior Lecturer, e-mail: Juliano.morimoto@abdn.ac.uk
