The University welcomes applications for applied electronics research engineers within the School of Engineering. The post has become available due to recent extension of the precision agriculture activities in the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering over three interrelated topic areas covering intelligent sensor systems research for delivering next generation crops and arable farming technologies. More than one appointment may be possible.
Working in partnership with industrial as well as academic researchers from other institutions and universities, you will become part of a multidisciplinary team notably in collaboration with plant scientist, materials engineers and business development researchers.
Applications are particularly welcomed from individuals who have interests in a longer-term academic career in intelligent sensor systems for precision agriculture and bio-electronics. Support will be provided to such applicants in their downstream application to Fellowship schemes or obtaining any further qualifications, such as chartered engineering status or a higher degree (if appropriate), as part of their pursuit of the research project goals.
The specific applied research areas to be addressed from the outset of the tenure encompass the sensor engineering associated with three principal areas: * Network sensor systems for in-field imaging and data processing of crop pathogen activity (disease vectors).
