About usThe mission of the Department of Clinical and Experimental Epilepsy (DCEE) is to transform the lives of people living with epilepsy for the better by identifying, understanding and correcting or preventing the underlying mechanisms leading to the epilepsies and associated comorbidities in each individual person.Based within DCEE, the Jepson laboratory uses the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, in concert with gene editing, electrophysiology, optical imaging, and molecular biology, to elucidate the mechanistic basis of neurological diseases such as ataxia, dystonia, dyskinesia, and epilepsy.About the roleDr Abigail Wilson has recently been awarded Dystonia Medical Research Foundation funding for a project to identify novel drug candidates for dystonia using a drug-screening format in Drosophila models of DYT-TOR1A, and so we are seeking a Research Assistant to join the team and contribute to this groundbreaking research.
