About the role



To provide high quality and well managed Income Service with specific responsibility for all matters relating to management of rent accounts and collection of arrears in your designated patch and keeping accurate computer records and other information systems up to date. To provide support to our tenants, with extra support to our vulnerable clients, collecting information and promoting the take up of welfare benefits, Housing and Council Tax Benefit. Postholder will liaise with the Inclusion Advisors, Enforcement Officers, Housing Officers and Housing Benefit Officers as well as external agencies and stakeholders including Universal credit DWP service centres, local jobcentre plus teams, CAB, local food banks, CMHT, Social Services and any local support services to provide money and financial inclusion advice to our tenants.

About you



To be successful, you'll be/have:

NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification in housing management, business administration, finance, or a customer service-related field. Demonstrates sufficient knowledge and experience of working in a housing related field or equivalent, with a working knowledge of landlord and tenant law, housing and welfare benefit legislation, housing allocations and rent collection and rent arrears good practice and regulation in order to successfully carry out the requirements of the role. Experience of taking possession action for rent arrears via the county court including preparation of all necessary paperwork and presenting the case. Knowledge of Welfare Benefits, Housing & Council Tax Benefit to maximise assistance provided to the people of Cornwall. A detailed knowledge and working experience of debt management & providing money advice. Substantial evidence of the ability to make full written records of all interviews, investigations and related matters, and record information for statistics as required. Good knowledge of working practices, IT and administrative systems to identify and suggest improvements to the manager and/or team. Demonstrates good communication skills and is able to provide information in a way that the customer can understand. Experience in communicating effectively with customers using all media. To write accurate, detailed and concise reports of all visits carried out and ensure effective and timely communication with Benefits Teams, other departments and agencies. Able to demonstrate an ability to deal with members of the public from all walks of life, including those enduring difficult personal circumstances such as bereavement and severe or terminal illness. Experience in using PC based software applications, demonstrated by good working practice of word processing to compile letters and spreadsheets to review data. Previous experience of working in a busy office environment, dealing with a high volume of sensitive customer enquiries

Hybrid working - working from office, home, site and in the community as needed. Your base will be our main office in Chy Trevail, Bodmin, PL31 2FR.
