Experiencing some of Britains most stunning coastlines, you will travel around Somerset, Devon, and Dorset plus opportunities to visit the Channel Isles as you work on the cutting-edge facilities, assets and equipment at our Lifeboat stations and Lifeguard support centres.About the jobWe are looking for two Regional Technicians and well look to you to make your mark and really get stuck in. Whether youre modifying our equipment, scheduling planned preventative maintenance, rectify defective equipment, overseeing contractors or directing stock control, youll ensure our technology performs as well as our teams, so we never let anyone down and youll enjoy the unique satisfaction of doing something truly life changing.About youIn addition to working on our inshore and all-weather Lifeboats, you will find yourself involved with our Lifeguard equipment, Jet ski, Quads, Ford Rangers, also various launching equipment.This means you could join us from an agricultural, commercial, plant, military or vehicular background. At the same time, you will require:

  • A Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds or HNC qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Broad electrical knowledge.
  • Proven ability to use your initiative and operate independently.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • A good level of physical fitness is preferable as you may spend some of your time at sea.
  • A time-served apprenticeship in a marine or vehicle-based setting (ideal but not vital).
  • IOSH Working Safely, Working at Height, PASMA and PA testing certification (again useful but by no means crucial).
Finally, its essential that you have a full driving licence. A B+E licence for towing and a forklift licence would be very useful, but we will provide comprehensive training if necessary.Your rewardsAt the RNLI, were passionate about looking after our staff, so you can expect:
