The Placement Quantity Surveyor's main role within PK Murphy's is to support all aspects of the Quantity Surveying Function. The successful applicant will be working closely with the Site Managers, Coding Manager and Quantity Surveyor. The key purpose of the role will be to assist the coders to ensure clients receive quotes/estimates within service level agreements ensuring high standards are consistently met together with observing all legal, statutory, and regulatory requirements. On the job training will be provided. Construction experience an advantage.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with completing estimates & quotation requests
Assit with reviewing and approving sub-contractor quotations
Communicate professionally with clients and colleagues
Assist in subcontractor management meetings
Measure work in progress using schedule of rates (SORs)
Attend and contribute to meetings with work colleagues and or clients/customers when necessary
Always maintain the professional image of the company
Maintain and build effective relationships with colleagues, clients, sub-contractors and suppliers
Responsible for calculating the costs of a project before and during work commencement, covering everything from materials, labour, equipment hire, transport costs and everything in between.
Provide a high quality, responsive and proactive service to key stakeholders.
General bid and QS team administration.
Maintain regular reporting.
Support the wider business development activity as required including individual project.
Help resolve any client-related issues or disputes
Carry out work in a safe and diligent manner adhering to company policies, procedures, risk & method statements
Report any H&S issues, concerns, bad practice, or non-conformance to Senior Management

Knowledge, skills, and experience required:
Essential
Working towards a BSC (Hons), HND, BTEC in Construction related field
Ability to work as part of a team and use own initiative
Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
Enthusiastic and result driven
IT literate - Microsoft Office Package
Excellent attention to detail
