The role of Quality Technician:



To perform designated quality control tests and methods to a trained standard. To perform tests and procedures in accordance with FSSC 22000 and BRC v8, our food safety and quality management system. Provide support on and maintain records for BRCGS, ISO9001, ISO14001, HACCP Excellence + GMP, Kosher and Organic 3rd party audits. To perform equipment calibrations as directed, to ensure the validity of results obtained from equipment and to comply with our Quality Policy. Provide support on Supplier Reviews and maintenance of documentation (MSDS, statements/declarations, audit certificates/reports), Customer requested documentation (SAQs, statements and declarations). Coordinate, monitor and communicate relevant compliance information from trade association communications (UK Flavour Association, Soil Association, London Beth Din) and monthly surveillance of key government websites (Food Standards Agency) and certification body websites (BRCGS). Provide support on and maintain records for BRCGS compliance/External third party and customer audits i.e. shelf-life validation exercises, allergen and clean down validation exercises, traceability exercises. Accurate record keeping is of paramount importance in order to comply with FSSC 22000 & BRC v8 and to ensure traceability. Recording test results and experimental data accurately in electronic or written format and maintaining quality and research records to a trained standard. Support Head of Technical & NPD/Food Safety Manager in the preparation of quality, sustainability, environmental documentation for customers. To provide day to day quality support to production on the shopfloor, raise non - conformances, carry out investigations, manage deviations/customer complaints and support the QMS. Inspect, log & file supplier Certificate of Conformity/Assurance (CoCs & CoAs) and out-turn samples. To carry out all good manufacturing practice (GMP), Critical Control Point (CCP), glass etc. and internal audits as per the schedule. To ensure and promote a culture of high hygiene standards and that all team members maintain it. To perform additional house-keeping tasks as required including general hygiene tasks and any other technical duties may aid the company responsibility. To ensure that all team members pursue safe working practices and all accident and reporting procedures. To support FSM and the business for development and maintenance of Company Health & Safety Systems. Staying up to date with relevant scientific developments that can improve the efficiency of lab operations. Recording observations and interpreting findings in conformity to standard testing procedures. Inform Head of Technical & NPD/Food Safety Manager of results outside specification for investigation of corrective actions. To issue microbiology request letters for factory environment and process/internal swabbing programmes and inform FSM for any result failure investigation. As and when required, supporting lab duties (Epping). Any other technical duties that may aid the company's responsibility to ensure Food Safety, Quality, authenticity and legality of the products and processes performed following our FSSC 22000 and BRCGS procedures and those governing any other 3rd party accreditations.

Quality Technician Requirements and Skills:



2-3 years (minimum) prior experience of working in QA/Technical in the food or related manufacturing industries. Qualified to degree level in a packaging or food science related subject. Level 2 Food Safety Level 2 HACCP Keen to learn and grow responsibility. BRC Technical Audit experience is advantageous. Proficient with Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel, Outlook. A methodical approach and Strong attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills and ability to perform well under pressure. Professional, positive and enthusiastic. Work with integrity, initiative and focus. Able to self-manage and work independently. Full UK driving license and own transport to be able to travel between sites (the role is based in Braintree, but occasional travel would be required to the lab facility in Epping CM16 4AE).

The Technician will be required to work with products which may include food allergens; raw meat, offal, meat products, dairy products, powdered stabilisers and emulsifiers, raw fish. Location - Braintree, CM7 2YN Annual salary - 30,000-35,000 Working hours - 35 per week (9am-5pm Mon, 8:30am-5pm Tues/Weds/Thurs, 8:30am-3pm Fri, with a 1 hour unpaid break each day) 25 days holiday (plus bank hols), increasing by 1 day each January, up to max of 28 days This role involves physical exertion, including lifting 25kg boxes Please include your CV when applying Please visit our website to find out more about Arthur Branwell & Co.
