Job Description


The project that this role is required for is to work on National Highways Scheme. The project will involve the construction of new carriageway, structures, large earthworks and drainage packages all while considering the Environment and local communities and stakeholders.
The purpose of the Quality Engineer role is to assist the team in ensuring the scheme is constructed to the required standards, remains within the budget and handed over on time and defect free.
Key Accountabilities:
Quality and Document Control:
xc2xb7Understand and implement the Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies and Targets
xc2xb7Comply, as appropriate, with the processes contained within the Project Quality systems
xc2xb7Ensure use of the Project document management system
xc2xb7Considers the need to satisfy customer requirements with the aim of enhancing the customers' perception and satisfaction
xc2xb7Promote a positive Quality culture both within the project team, supply chain and wider business. Drive GT 'Right First Time' and 'Delivering Excellence' within the project.
xc2xb7Work with sub-contractors to review Quality Plans and Inspection and Test Plans.
xc2xb7Attend Quality pre-start meetings with sub-contractors and suppliers.
xc2xb7Ensure sub-contractors and suppliers are aware of their quality requirements and identify, communicate and mitigate key risk areas.
xc2xb7Monitor and assist with the collation of handover information as required.
xc2xb7Assisting with the management of NCRs, Defects and ensuring the quality of product on site.
xc2xb7Monitoring and reporting of non-conformance and quality related KPIs both internally and in line with client requirements.
xc2xb7Good working knowledge of industry standards national and international (SHW, EU Construction Products Regulations, Relevant British Standards and Testing Requirements).
xc2xb7Undertaking audits and production of audit reports of activities on site
xc2xb7Support the Construction and Commercial Teams in management of RFIs and TQs, to resolve technical issues and identified non-conformance.
xc2xb7Use of audits, investigations and lessons learned to identify and communicate good practice, key risks and highlight these both internally and to the wider industry.
xc2xb7Work and communicate with the Client representatives to review and accept activities on site.
Person Specification:
xc2xb7Excellent communication skills, with a positive attitude and the ability to work with team which ensures that quality and contractual issues are identified and closed out in a timely manner.
xc2xb7A working knowledge of Business Management Systems and contractual documentation
xc2xb7Possession of ISO 9001 Internal Auditor qualifications with the relevant experience of the Construction industry
xc2xb7Appropriate professional qualifications and/or extensive technical experience within Civil construction work would be desirable for this role.
xc2xb7Computer literate (MS Office suite of software) including MS Visio, with excellent report writing and spreadsheet skills.
