QUALITY ENGINEER (MANUFACTURING) - STAFF - NUCLEAR

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manufacturing Quality Engineer to join our team within the nuclear industry. As a Manufacturing Quality Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance in the manufacturing processes related to nuclear equipment, components, and systems. Your primary responsibility will be to develop, implement, and maintain robust quality assurance programs and procedures, as well as to conduct inspections and audits to verify compliance with industry regulations and standards. This is a key position that requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of nuclear manufacturing processes and quality control principles.

Responsibilities: * Develop and implement quality assurance programs and procedures for nuclear manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of manufacturing facilities, equipment, and processes to identify areas of improvement and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering, and procurement, to develop and implement corrective actions and process improvements to enhance product quality and reliability.
  • Perform root cause analysis and lead investigations into quality incidents, non-conformances, and customer complaints, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor and report on the performance of manufacturing processes and product quality.
  • Participate in supplier qualification and evaluation activities, including conducting audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality requirements and standards.
  • Review and approve manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and quality control plans to ensure they meet regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to manufacturing personnel on quality-related matters, including training on quality control methods and procedures.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes relevant to nuclear manufacturing quality, and proactively incorporate them into the quality assurance programs.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting quality awareness, facilitating knowledge sharing, and driving initiatives to enhance overall product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Qualifications: * Bachelor\'s degree in engineering, preferably in a discipline related to nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or industrial engineering. A higher degree or additional certifications in quality management would be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience as a Quality Engineer, preferably within the nuclear industry or other highly regulated manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear manufacturing processes, quality control principles, and applicable industry standards and regulations (e.g., ASME, ASTM, NQA-1, 10 CFR Part 50, etc.).
  • CSWIP
  • NDT Qualifications PCN Level 2 (expired maybe considered)
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing quality assurance programs, procedures, and systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in conducting inspections, audits, and root cause analysis, and utilizing appropriate quality tools and techniques.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and their implementation, such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and propose effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate quality-related information clearly and concisely.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of quality and compliance.
  • Certification as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar quality-related certifications would be desirable.
