About Hinkley Point C
The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.
Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UKs move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year.
Role Purpose
Quality Assurance Engineer role is crucial in ensuring that all aspects of quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) are implemented effectively throughout the lifecycle of the project.
What you'll be doing
As an
Quality Assurance Engineer,
youwill have the following responsibilities,
Collaborating with QA Area Leads, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive Quality Management System tailored to the specific requirements of the nuclear new build project.
To review QA/QC procedures, work instructions, and quality plans to ensure they comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and project specifications.
Conducting regular audits and inspections to verify compliance and identifying non-conformances ,and implementing corrective and preventive actions as necessary.
Overseeing the documentation process, to ensure accurate and up-to-date records are maintained for regulatory compliance and project traceability.
Identifying potential quality risks and hazards associated with the nuclear new build project, conducting risk assessments, and implementing risk mitigation measures to prevent quality issues and ensure safety and reliability.
Ensuring compliance with all applicable nuclear regulatory requirements, codes, standards, and licensing conditions related to QA/QC activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Providing training and guidance to project personnel, contractors, and subcontractors on QA/QC procedures, standards, and requirements.
Investigating and analysing root causes of quality issues or failures, utilizing techniques such as root cause analysis (RCA) to identify underlying problems and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Monitoring key performance indicators & preparing regular progress reports.
Champion Foreign Material Exclusion, preventing ingress or entrapment of
non-specified materials, loose items or debris in equipment and /or systems during assembly and testing. Maintaining reports.
Who we're looking for
We're Looking for,
Qualifications in an Engineering discipline, ONC / HNC / HND (or equivalent
experience). Preferred membership of Chartered Quality Institute and IRAC auditor training.
Experience in progressively responsible Quality Engineering positions.
Major Project Experience
Nuclear Experience would be beneficial
Ability to gain a security clearance
