As part of our continued investment in the future, we're now recruiting for a Purchasing Assistant to join our commercial team at our Dalton / Thirsk manufacturing site. The role will support the Supply Chain & Logistics Manager and will have a key part to play in ensuring accurate and timely ordering of raw materials and tight control of stock levels.
The Role:
Reporting to the Supply Chain and Logistics Manager and working alongside our production and wider business teams, you will support the procurement operations of the business. Ensuring raw material stocks meet our production schedule and avoid downtime is a key element of the procurement team's role. As well as assisting in maintain these stock levels you will also be involved in the ordering of office supplies and consumables, undertaking cycle stock counts and booking deliveries into stock.
Maintaining records on our ERP system and liaising with suppliers will be essential in the execution of this role, so IT literacy and a good communication stye will be pre-requisites for the successful candidate.
Purchasing Assistant - Responsibilities may include but are not limited to...
Ordering of packaging, raw materials, and management of consumable stocks
Processing of order acknowledgments, delivery notes, purchase orders
Maintaining accurate supplier records
Booking in and out of raw materials, packaging & finished goods
Assisting with stock takes and reconciliation of stock
Liaising with suppliers & customs brokers
Production of business forms, templates and documents as required
Generating and maintaining departmental spreadsheets
Provide holiday and absence cover where required
Any other tasks deemed reasonable as requested by the business
Experience / Skills / Attributes Required
Good communication skills
Ability to appropriately handle confidential information
Experience of working within a busy operational environment
Ability to consistently meet deadlines & manage own workload
Good basic knowledge of Microsoft IT programs,
Attention to detail and accuracy with strong literacy skills.
Strong work ethic with ability to perform under pressure
Excellent time management skills, working independently & flexibly
Ability to build relationships with customers, suppliers, contractors & colleagues.
Organised, flexible and self-motivated
