Publicity Executive, Head Of Zeus

Bloomsbury, Central London, United Kingdom

Job Description

Head of Zeus is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Publicity Executive to work on our Aria commercial fiction imprint, reporting to the Head of Publicity.

Aria stands at the forefront of commercial fiction, showcasing a rich tapestry of genres encompassing everything from sweeping romance to compelling historical narratives, spicy romantasy, uplifting emotional sagas and thought-provoking book club reads. We publish the best stories from both emerging and established authors from around the world. Among our celebrated authors are household names such as Kathy Lette, Daisy Goodwin, Sinead Crowley, Dani Atkins, Diney Costeloe and Faith Hogan. We also take pride in fostering new voices in commercial fiction, including Breanne Randall, Charlotte Rixon and Carrie Walker.

The Publicity Executive will be part of our brilliant and friendly publicity team, working to deliver creative and sales-driving book campaigns and excellent author care. This role is ideal for someone with some level of experience in a publishing publicity department, perhaps as an assistant or through internships, who is eager to progress their career within a dynamic publishing house.

The role

  • Planning and running creative publicity campaigns for our ARIA imprint and being the main point of contact for Aria authors (with scope in this role to assist with other imprints\' PR campaigns).
  • Developing and maintaining strong media relationships across print, broadcast, events and the digital space.
  • Delivering excellent author care, from preliminary campaign planning meetings, through to launch and beyond.
  • Writing press releases and coordinating review copy mailings to targeted media lists.
  • Collaborating with Marketing colleagues on our \'Aria at Home\' online events programme.
  • Collaborating with colleagues in the wider Sales & Marketing and Editorial departments to develop joined up book campaigns.
  • Participating in monthly imprint meetings.
  • Day to day administrative duties such as managing prize submissions, helping to arrange launch parties, author travel and bookshop/festival events, and reporting on publicity coverage and events to other departments and the wider company.
Knowledge, skills and experience
  • Interest in developing a career in publicity.
  • Previous experience in public relations is desirable; ideally of running own publicity campaigns and delivering excellent levels of author care.
  • Strong relationship building skills, both with internal colleagues and third parties.
  • Great communication skills.
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritise is a must, as are strong organisational skills and a demonstrable ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good understanding of the national media landscape, including digital media.
  • Creative approach to finding new platforms to expand a campaign\'s reach and find potential new readers for Aria authors.
  • A demonstrable passion for books and ability to convey this is essential.
