Job Purpose

We have an exciting new opportunity in our dynamic Marketing and Communications team, to gain hands-on experience and training while studying a Public Relations and Communications Assistant apprenticeship.

During your apprenticeship, you\xe2\x80\x99ll receive 20% of your working time (about eight hours a week), to learn and study your programme online. By the end of your 16 month course, you\xe2\x80\x99ll be a certified Public Relations & Communications Apprentice.
As a PR and Communications Apprentice, you\xe2\x80\x99ll develop an understanding of communications and how to engage internal audiences through a variety of communication channels. In your role within our Marketing and Communications team, you\xe2\x80\x99ll support colleagues with activities regionally, nationally and globally.

Responsibilities
Support the Internal Communications Lead to oversee the coordination of internal and (on occasions) external communications
Assist with the development of the Communication strategy
Support the coordination and delivery of internal events.
Support post event evaluation and metrics
Assist with the production of newsletters
Support with updating the intranet
Find opportunities to develop content for internal audiences that align with the business strategy such as internal stories, interviews, and videos
Proof and edit copy as needed
Monitor brand and usage / act as a brand guardian
Help maintain calendar of comms and marketing activities
Experience Requirements
We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for our candidates to have a basic understanding of:
Current affairs, the PR industry, the media, and marketing
Finance processes related to PR campaigns.
The principles of operational management
MS Office suite of programmes such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Sway
Planning and production processes involved in building campaigns
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic with a can-do attitude and possess a willingness to learn. We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for someone who\xe2\x80\x99s found their flair for creativity and originality, and who\xe2\x80\x99s keen to share their forward-thinking ideas at work.
Above all else we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for someone willing to use their apprenticeship and role with KBR to grow, develop their skills and begin their fulfilling career in communications and public relations.
Technical Skills/Knowledge
We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for our applicants to have:
Good written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of programmes, predominant Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Sway
Some experience in building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Behaviours/Personal Qualities
Support for others in developing an appropriate balance of leadership and technical skills.
Demonstrates resilience, accountability and flexibility especially when managing difficult situations.
A passion for creating content for creative and digital media.
A strong work ethic and commitment to meet the standards required.
Recognition and compliance with equality and diversity in the workplace
Qualifications/Certifications Requirements
Essential:
English & Maths - Apprentices must achieve level 2 English and Maths prior to taking their end-point assessment.
NB Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship\xe2\x80\x99s English and maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3. A British Sign Language (BSL) qualification is an alternative to the English qualification for those whose primary language is BSL.
