PRIMARY FUNCTION:
You will work within our pre-production prototype development section and will be part of the team developing our next generation of tractors.
The role will involve working on bringing the next generation of tractors from concept through to production, working with a broad range of engineering disciplines including mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, fabrication, and machining.
The purpose of this role is to contribute to the overall profitability of new and existing products. This will be achieved by ensuring that all processes are adhered to and carried out in a satisfactory manner.
The specific activities will include:
\xc2\xb7 Contribute to the reduction of the overall product warranty activities.
\xc2\xb7 Contribute to customer safety & satisfaction initiatives.
\xc2\xb7 Contribute to the meeting of product development key dates/milestones for product introduction.
\xc2\xb7 Contribute to the effective running of a product validation testing facility and help ensure high levels of Health and Safety standards are maintained.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
\xc2\xb7 General prototype workshop activities including the construction, reworking and maintenance of our development tractors.
\xc2\xb7 Discovery and diagnosis of faults, functional problems, and durability issues, mechanical, hydraulic, and electric/electronic.
\xc2\xb7 Building test rigs for component and structural durability testing.
\xc2\xb7 Following test procedures, engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
\xc2\xb7 Use of machining and fabrication facilities to make, functional components to specification, modifications, or test fixtures.
\xc2\xb7 Use of PC-based diagnostic equipment for programming and configuring development tractors.
\xc2\xb7 Assisting engineers with routine engineering tests, including the use of test equipment, including dynamometers, instrumentation, test rigs and data acquisition systems.
\xc2\xb7 Utilise business enterprise software systems to document and convey required information regarding testing and/or vehicle performance.
\xc2\xb7 Collect and analyse test data and then formalise the results in a technical report which would include fact-based conclusions and recommendations.
\xc2\xb7 Operation and driving of Agricultural Vehicles and/or test equipment for validation purposes. Track testing and shakedown of development tractors.
\xc2\xb7 Functional performance testing of tractor sub-systems.
\xc2\xb7 Contribute to the existing Product Validation team in order to further enhance our; performance, quality, durability & reliability testing of agricultural machinery.
\xc2\xb7 Improve capabilities in Product Validation support leading to enhanced target achievement.
\xc2\xb7 Identify potential safety hazards related to specific equipment systems and/or overall products.
\xc2\xb7 Main communication is frequent verbal and written with peers and co-workers (test technicians, test engineers, design engineers, managers).
\xc2\xb7 Frequently provide feedback and data to direct manager and test engineers.
KEY COMPETENCIES AND BEHAVIOURS:
Essential Skills and Experience
\xc2\xb7 An engineering-related formal qualification, such as C&G Level 3, BTEC ONC/HNC, NVQ Level 3, or apprenticeship.
\xc2\xb7 Be flexible and versatile in regard to changing assignments and be ready to work overtime and/or non-standard shifts when necessary.
\xc2\xb7 Ability to take direction, perform routine tasks, and work independently.
\xc2\xb7 Communication skills and professional appearance are required.
\xc2\xb7 Must have a valid UK driving license.
Desired Skills and Experience
\xc2\xb7 A minimum of 5 years of heavy vehicle/agricultural or related mechanic experience is required.
\xc2\xb7 Hands-on mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of vehicle driveline, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
\xc2\xb7 A working knowledge of agricultural implements and vehicles.
\xc2\xb7 A working knowledge of email, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
\xc2\xb7 Competence in fabrication, machining, and welding.
