Senior Protection Engineer, or a Protection engineer looking to develop
to join our Energy Division. This is a pivotal leadership role, where you will guide a dedicated Protection team in maintaining and enhancing the reliability and safety of our Transmission, Distribution, and Generation assets. You will play a key role in shaping engineering practices, ensuring compliance, and driving value across critical infrastructure.
As the Protection Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and team management while contributing to major projects and ongoing operations across the network. This includes oversight of assets such as submarine interconnectors, substations, and power generation facilities.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the maintenance of protection systems across the network.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance development for team members.
Collaborate with internal and external experts to innovate and ensure technical excellence.
Support and influence project planning and delivery, ensuring compliance with standards and specifications.
Develop, implement, and maintain procedures relevant to the Protection team.
Ensure the highest standards of Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) compliance and promote a strong safety culture.
Manage contractors, ensuring compliance with contractual and technical standards.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Proven leadership and people management skills
Strong technical expertise in utility protection systems
Project management experience with a successful track record
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Effective interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or working towards
NEBOSH/IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent safety certification
Desirable:
Senior Authorised Person (SAP) certifications (11kV, 90kV DSR, GSR)
Distribution Control Engineer and Control Person authorisations
French language skills (DELF B1 or equivalent)
PRINCE2 or equivalent project management certification
Supporting JE revenue of >100m
Direct reports: 2 | Indirect reports: 2-3
Asset oversight includes:
4 submarine interconnectors (90kV)
7 primary/grid substations
800+ distribution substations
1,700km of electrical cabling
130MW of generation capacity (Diesel + Gas Turbine)###
