Project Coordinator

Hours:

40 hours per week

Shift Pattern:

Working any 5 days from 7 to accommodate the needs of the business. Start and finish times will vary to reflect operational hours during peak periods.

Work pattern:

This is a 365 day operation therefore there will be the need to work weekends, evenings and bank holidays in accordance with business needs

The Role

West Midlands Safari Park is currently sourcing candidates for the role of Project Coordinator.



The successful candidate will support the Project Director - UK parks to deliver on all assigned developments and related activities across WMSP overseeing all aspects of planning, communication, co-ordination and financial management.

The successful candidate will be the point of contact throughout the business for day-to-day Project Management matters and/or issues that arise.



The ideal candidate will bring an infectious energy and work in alignment with the Wildlife, Operational and H&S teams to ensure that all aspects of project management builds are aligned with the needs and welfare of our animals as well as meet all H&S legislative and regulation requirements.

Above all, we're looking for someone with a key interest and focus in Project Management and it's coordination, who is self-motivated to drive and achieve success.



Key responsibilities:



1. To work closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders to assess developments that have been confirmed by the Managing Director & UK Project Director generating cost effective and insight-led solutions and proposals.

2. To ensure all aspects of a development are clearly communicated across the organisation, ensuring effective project structures and processes are in place and understood, schedules of work are distributed and completed within agreed timeframes and any delays or changes are updated on schedules of work and redistributed accordingly.

3. Oversee the day-to-day actions of contractors and provide the Project Director with a daily summary of activities and progress

4. Be responsible for managing the purchase order system and reporting of financial information.

5. To investigate, appoint and manage appropriate external contractors and suppliers to deliver schedules of work on time and within budget to the required specification and applicable legislation.

6. To work closely and collaboratively with the Health and Safety Manager to create and implement CDM for all construction related developments, conduct appropriate safety briefings and training for all project staff and external contractors and suppliers, ensuring updates to site access and safety are communicated and adhered to at all times

7. Evaluate and prepare tender documents in accordance with policy

8. To review the planning and execution of completed developments, providing a detailed analysis of performance with regards to expenditure, productivity and deadline adherence, ensuring that any key findings are integrated into our future project plans and associated recommendations are provided to the Managing Director for consideration.

9. Work with contractors and other stakeholders to ensure that the project milestones are clear and delivered on time and within budget

10. To prepare and maintain operational documents for the operations team in time for handover.



About you

To be considered for interview your experience and skills set should demonstrate:

5 years experience in a similar role Extensive knowledge and experience within the construction industry either within the client or contractor side. Evidencable understanding of the project life-cycle The ability to creatively turn imaginative ideas into realistic solutions A Project management qualifications such as PRINCE2. The ability to work under your own initiative is key with the adaptability for change in a fast-paced customer facing environment. Knowledge within sustainability and environmental, and of CDM regs Evidence of strong interpersonal and people management skills are essential. Experience in a similar position in the leisure and tourism industry is desirable but not essential

The successful candidate will be required to drive around the park, into the animal reserve and animal restricted areas, therefore you will hold a full, valid driving licence.
