Overview
As we continue to expand, we are looking for an enthusiastic person to join the technical team as a project technologist. Reporting into the Senior Compliance Manager you will be responsible for managing projects from concept to launch working alongside a commercial manager and be a first point of technical contact for both internal and external stakeholders.
You will be expected to work within the legal and technical standards to ensure the company adheres to BRC/MSC/ASC standards and that hygiene targets are achieved. You need to understand the Quality and H&S procedures eg: HACCP which the Company must adhere to.
This is a fast-paced role where attention to detail is critical. The role is predominantly office based but travel in both the UK and Worldwide to our other sites, suppliers, customers will be required from time to time.
As a small team flexibility within the role is also crucial with the potential to get involved in other projects within the company as the job develops.
Experience is not essential but a desire to work with fish and seafood is a must to get the most out of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Run New Product Development projects alongside the Sales Team as agreed by the Senior Compliance Manager or MD
This includes:
Writing and Maintaining the Critical Path
Attending Customer Meetings to discuss the account / project
Completing New Line Forms
Completing Product Specifications in both Maris and Customer format
Completing any other paperwork requested by the Customer for the project
Approval of the suitability of packaging for product
Ensuring product analysis is complete and checked against customer requirements:
o Micros
o Shelf Life
o Nutritional
o Chemical
o Cooking Instructions
o Species Testing
Managing product samples for your own project if Quality Controller is busy
Ensuing project tracker is always up to date
Ensuring all project related information is correctly filed and right first time.
Ensuring all your customer information is kept up to date.
All customer emails are responded to in a timely manner
Ensuring the Quality Lead is informed in advance of new suppliers / service providers for your project, so approvals have been completed before launch
Supporting the Quality Controller in Quality Control Testing and Checks of Incoming Samples
Supporting the Quality Controller in collating samples for customer tenders / panels, the
Keep up to date with all Customer Procedures, Policies and Information provided in technical portals and ensure that Maris procedures are following these requirements.
Conduct and manage traceability trials to ensure product traceability standards are met.
Conduct Internal audits as and when required
Maintain the customer specification platforms (Smart Supplier, Erudus)
When required, ensure that all product repacks meet Maris food safety standards.
Travel to Suppliers, Customers or third-party storage areas if a products quality requires investigation. This can include travel outside the UK. This can include short notice travel.
Run Technical Projects that help to improve the current systems
To carry out any other duties/tasks/responsibilities within the overall context of this job description as may be requested by the MD or direct line manager and which are within the jobholder's capabilities (after further training if necessary).

Hybrid working - 4 days office Based (HU13 0LH), 1 day working from home. (Following 90 day probation)
