Project Research Assistant
Job Purpose
To be the main point of contact and support Professor Konstantinos Gerasimidis and other members of the research team in the co-ordination and administration of a portfolio of clinical nutrition studies including a dietary trial in adult patients with Crohn\'s disease receiving therapy with biologics. The study is funded by The Helmsley Charitable Trust and it is registered in clinicaltrials.gov https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04859088 The postholder will liaise directly with the research team, the study clinical collaborators and the research support office and other services of the University of Glasgow and NHS to ensure that effective communication takes place and a seamless research management support service is delivered. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1 Plan and conduct assigned research individually or jointly in accordance with the project deliverables and project and College of MVLS research strategy
2 Support the Principal Investigator and research team on co-ordination of the research activities of the trial, including project budget management, progress reporting to funder, sponsor and regulatory authorities and the University\'s research support office and finance.
3 Document research output including analysis and interpretation of all data, maintaining records and databases, drafting technical/progress reports and papers as appropriate
4 Maintain study documentation and the Trial Site File according to Good Clinical Practice standards for Research.
5 Develop and enhance your research profile and reputation and that of The University of Glasgow/School of Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing/BINGO Group https://www.gla.ac.uk/schools/medicine/research/humannutrition/thebingogroup/ , including contributing to publications of international quality in high profile/quality refereed journals, enhancing the research impact in terms of economic/societal benefit, and gathering indicators of esteem.
6. Contribute to the presentation of work at international and national conferences, at internal and external seminars, colloquia and workshops to develop and enhance our research profile.
7. Contribute to the identification of potential funding sources and to assist in the development of proposals to secure funding from internal and external bodies to support future research.
8. Collaborate with colleagues and participate in team/ group/ meetings/ seminars/ workshops across the research Group/School/College/University and wider community.
9. Contribute to the organisation, supervision, mentoring and training of undergraduate and/or postgraduate students and less experienced members of the project team to ensure their effective development.
10. Perform administrative tasks related to the activities of the research group and School, including Budgets/Expenditure.
11. Keep up to date with current knowledge and recent advances in the field/discipline.
12. Engage in continuing professional development activities as appropriate.
13. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of School.
14. Contribute to the enhancement of the University\'s international profile in line with the University\'s Strategic Plan, Inspiring People Changing The World.
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential
A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 10, \\[Honours degree\\] in a relevant subject or a cognate discipline of equivalent
A2 Specialist theoretical and practical knowledge of conducting human trials in nutrition, dietetics or in life sciences in general
A3 A comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of the winder subject area

B1 An awarded \\[or recently submitted or near completion\\] PhD in subject specialism or equivalent

C2 An understanding of grant application processes including costing and funder guidelines

Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 6, \xc2\xa331,502 - \xc2\xa335,308 per annum pro rata.
This post is part time (21 hours per week) with funding up to 30 April 2025 in the first instance, with a possibility of an extension giving a contract length of 31 months in total.
