Job Description


NRL's Engineering client is looking to recruit a Project Planner on a permanent staff basis on their site in Somerset. The Project Planner is required to provide project planning duties on the Mechanical & Electrical installation works within the turbine hall of HPC Nuclear New Build Mega Project.Principle Accountabilities:Develop and maintain schedules for design / engineering / construction / commissioningDevelop and maintain progress databasesProgress reporting including production of Weekly and Monthly reportsMilestone projections, delay / float path analysisRecording delay and disruptionEarned Value ManagementMonitoring schedule performance and productivitySite progress verification, including incorporating quality assessmentsAttending schedule meetings, liaising with client and subcontractorsPreparation of tender schedulesPreparation of histogramsLeading planning meetings and weekly work planning systemsResource / cash loading of schedulesProviding data for payment applicationsCompleting contract review reportsResponsibility for quality and accuracy of schedules and reportsMaking relevant parties aware of issues and advising on solutionsNature and Scope:Meets daily with the whole team to review programme and agree activitiesInvolved with the team in decision making and problem solvingEnsure planning meetings are led effectively, are focussed and productiveListens to every member's views and aims at consensus decisionsIs committed to the team and cares for every memberContinuously seeks ways to improve performance, is open to and adopts new ideasUnderstands the needs and aspirations of all team membersHas the courage to do what is right and required, never compromise goalsDisplays a can-do attitude and enthusiasmDemonstrates commitment to the organisation, its mission, vision, values and goalsCreates meaning and challenge for team members in the workplaceKnowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:Essential:A good analytical approachSound IT skills including Primavera P6, Excel, PowerPoint and WordWork on own initiative and proven ability to prioritise workload and problem solveSelf-motivated & able to work under pressure and to deadlinesGood Communication Skills including the ability to build good working relationships with other staff and other teams within UK Power NetworksAbility to chair meetings both with internal and external stakeholdersPrevious experience of construction projectsIdeally a third level degree in a construction-related fieldProficient in all MS Office packages, with advanced level MS ExcelExcellent organisational and project planning skillsExcellent negotiation & problem-solving skillsAbility to work as part of a team & work on own initiativeAbility to work well under pressure and within a strict deadline environmentExcellent communication skillsTeam player with ability to build effective relationships at all levelsStrong interpersonal skills, ability to work well within a friendly teamCareer driven, ambitious and enthusiasticWhat's in it for you?Negotiable salary25 days holiday (full time employees)Opportunity to purchase an additional holidays per year (up to 5 days for full time employees)5% employee and employer pension contributionsGroup life insurancePrivate Medical InsuranceEmployee Assistance ProgrammeEnhanced Paternity, Maternity, Adoption and Shared Parental LeaveAbout NRL
