About Local Partnerships
Local Partnerships LLP is jointly owned by the Local Government Association, HM Treasury and the Welsh Government. We occupy a unique position in the public sector, facilitating change through working impartially and collaboratively across all parts of central, local and regional government, and devolved administrations.
Our vision is as simple as it is challenging: to strengthen the public sector to deliver more effectively, achieve more swiftly, and give value for money to the taxpayer and customer.
Our purpose is to help public sector organisations face the ever-increasing challenge of meeting rising demands for services, with shrinking budgets. We bring public and private sector experience that provides confidence, capability and capacity, helping local authorities achieve and maintain financial resilience. We help to solve complex commercial issues, manage challenging programmes or projects effectively, increase delivery confidence and manage the whole approach to market.
We work all over England and Wales with a core team based in Smith Square, Westminster and a small office in Cardiff. We have c. 70 employees, supplemented by a pool of associates, and a current annual turnover of c. \xc2\xa310 million.
Our impact report for 2022-23 can be found at:
Project Managers at Local Partnerships provide support and activities that span a broad range of skill sets, including the more structured standards of traditional project management disciplines, but also adapting and flexing to the needs of specific client requirements and programme specialisms.
We are seeking two established Project Managers to join the team, who can apply their experience and skills to a variety of projects and potentially work across different programme areas. We are looking for strong stakeholder management and relationship building, excellent planning and organisation skills to manage multiple workstreams and the flexibility and resilience to adapt to change and challenges.
Initially for this role, the projects undertaken will be part of the Climate or Commercial business units. This would include working with projects related to waste management, resource efficiency, renewable energy, procurement, transformation and commercial contracts, so any interest or previous experience in these fields would be an advantage.
About the role
Project Managers are responsible for the management of the project on a day-to-day basis, including driving and overseeing the delivery of the project and ensuring that the objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints.
Project Managers also hold a key role in project governance and working with stakeholders, to ensure the agreed project outputs are delivered to enable benefits to be realised. This involves effective communication, prioritisation and management of activities and expectations.
Project Managers need to understand decision-making in the public sector, including the role of elected politicians, in addition to their professional expertise. Almost all assignments involve preparing reports containing complex written and analytical information for the client, so excellent communications skills are vital. Knowledge transfer to the client is a key part of the role.
Project Managers may be based anywhere in England and Wales. They will need to travel to clients and Local Partnerships offices around the country.
Project Managers may be assigned to projects across any of Local Partnerships programme areas which are the internal teams that deliver a variety of client facing projects and programmes.
