Working in partnership with internal customers to create a detailed work plan which identifies & sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project. The target is for the Project Manager to facilitate all parties feeling a sense of clarity, collaboration, buy in & ownership.
Establish the steps from solution design, testing, commissioning, implementation & support during & after go-live taking responsibility for ensuring the result is handed over to & accepted by our Operations Teams.
Determine the resources (time, money, equipment etc.) required to complete the project. Support in the communication of the impact of resource requirements
Determine the objectives & measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion.
Work closely with our internal & external customers to identify & closely manage & communicate risks, issues & change
Our Project Managers need to work cross-functionally to understand inter-dependencies to help identify risks arising from workload & conflicts between schedules.
Project Execution & Governance
Establish the governance that will support the project lifecycle, making updates & reviews uncomplicated, engaging & focused on moving forward.
Develop methods according to the audience & those responsible for actions to support & make project meetings simple & structured whilst remaining fluid to ensure everyone has their say in a safe environment.
Develop & promote the new flexible, but consistent approach to project management to support the culture change related to project management within the business. Utilizing the tools & templates according to the individuality of each project.
Own the progress & reporting of the project, adjusting as necessary to ensure its successful completion by staying close to the team involved.
Stakeholder communication & engagement is an essential aspect of the PM role & it is important that the Project Team are viewed as part of our internal customers teams. Establish a blame free environment where there are no surprises.
Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget & at the required level of quality.
An operational insight is needed to be able to understand & work with concepts & visualise operational solutions
Post Implementation Review & Continuous Improvement
During the project we aim to identify improvements to processes, solutions & our teams wellbeing & engagement. Making sure these are captured, proposed, reviewed & conscious decisions are made at the right time is part of how we exceed our customer expectations, improve sales or benefit from increased margin.
Learning from every completed project to continue developing the approach to projects within RWS is essential. Our Project Managers are responsible for completing a detailed post implementation report and leading a peer review process to share information, making time to identify & celebrate successes & opportunities for improvement with the rest of the team.
