Job Description

The Oxford Sustainable Law Programme (SLP) is looking for a talented, collaborative, and entrepreneurial Programme Manager to join the team. It is an exciting role at the centre of a rapidly growing, high-achieving team that operates at the intersection of global legal and sustainability issues.

Through strategic partnerships, research, and engagement, the SLP leverages innovative, rigorous, multidisciplinary, and decision-relevant research and education to advance a just and sustainable world for people and nature. The Programme is a world-leading centre of expertise on aligning the operation of the law with the achievement of sustainability outcomes. The Programme is a joint initiative of Oxford\'s Faculty of Law and the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, and it is part of the University\'s broader sustainability ecosystem and has close collaborations with the Blavatnik School of Government, Oxford Net Zero, the Oxford Martin School, and the Environmental Change Institute, amongst others.

This new role sits at the heart of the programme. It is designed to help the team reach its full potential and to help foster a collaborative, constructive, enabling, and effective working environment. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing programme management and operations, coordinating across the team, working closely with the SLP\'s Director. They will also be expected to support the leadership team in managing the Programme and other duties that are commensurate with the grade of this role, including day-to-day line management of the SLP\'s administrative support staff. A major part of this role is to help shape and subsequently operationalise and execute the programme\'s strategy to the highest standard. The successful candidate will be responsible for account management, including managing and maintaining relationships with senior partners and stakeholders within and outside the University, and will also be responsible for financial management, budgeting, and assisting with the development of funding applications (supported by the administrative support staff). The post holder will be expected to carry out report writing, both for funders as well as for policy and practitioner audiences.

The post holder will be Educated to degree level or equivalent. They will have a clear interest in the work of the SLP, a constructive, entrepreneurial, and effective working style, and ability to confidently represent the programme externally. A minimum of 18 months experience of leadership, administration, or project management in an academic research, private sector, or public sector environment, or other large complex organisation is essential. The successful candidate will be able to evidence excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build effective and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and project partners at all levels.

Applications are particularly welcome and encouraged from women, black, and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in posts in SoGE. SoGE, SSEE, and the SLP are committed to equality and value diversity.

This post is fixed term for 2 years in the first instance with possibility of extension.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Friday 8 March 2024, and interviews will be taking place in mid/late-March.
