The Faculty of Arts, Professional and Social Studies offers a diverse range of programmes to our 7,000 plus students; from Architecture to Film, Criminal Justice to Sociology and Policing.
The School of Justice Studies are engaged in work that encompasses three disciplines: Criminology, Criminal Justice and Policing Studies. Our aspirations as a School are to create just outcomes for individuals and our broader commitment to the creation of a just society. The school further aspires for structural change and a practical commitment to enlightening justice professionals, whichever state/private agencies they are employed in. It also reflects a strong personal commitment to justice among staff and in its application to our work lives.
Staff within the school are research active working in a theoretical, applied and interdisciplinary way, publishing articles, research reports and books.
We are now seeking to appoint a Programme Leader in Policing Studies with a proven track record in professional practice, teaching or research excellence to contribute to our expanding Policing portfolio. We are seeking to appoint an individual with proven leadership qualities and a commitment to delivering an excellent student experience and to enhancing the employability of our graduates.
You should have a PhD qualification in Policing/Criminology or significant operational experience and preferably managerial experience in law enforcement. You should be confident that you are an expert in your field of policing studies but also willing to contribute more broadly to the discipline.
You should have a strong research or professional profile in Policing that is commensurate with your stage of career and a commitment to developing both your own research and the activities of Policing Studies more generally.
An ability to lead/teach/research aspects of the Police Education Qualification Curriculum as well as contributing to the wider policing portfolio would be welcome.
