This role involves ensuring the smooth running of the programmes, maintaining high academic standards, and supporting both students and staff in achieving the programmes' objectives.Main duties and responsibilitiesLeadership and People Management

  • Provide effective leadership and communicate a clear vision of how programme teaching staff contribute to the achievement of academic objectives.
  • Promote a collaborative working environment to maintain and enhance the quality of the student learning experience and the overall teaching-learning environment.
  • Inspire and motivate teaching staff to do their best work and actively contribute to the development and delivery of a quality programme.
  • Plan staffing needs in advance and work with the Academic Director to ensure the programmes are appropriately resourced to meet academic objectives and that all recruitment activity is carried out in line with corporate policies and standards.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of direct reports in line with corporate policy (annual observations and performance reviews) and ensure any issues are promptly and effectively addressed.
  • Contribute to the strategic development and long-term planning of the programmes.
  • Contribute to the induction programme for new members of staff and provide them with on-going support.
  • Work with the Academic Director to develop and deliver a professional development plan for College teaching staff (all programmes).
Programme Management
  • Plan and manage delivery of a coherent set of high-quality programme modules in support of academic progression targets and student satisfaction.
  • Work with the College's management team to ensure that the programme meets strategic and operational objectives.
  • Ensure programme curriculum and modules are aligned with University standards and requirements to facilitate student progression and achievement.
  • Work with the College's management team to ensure that the timetables are effective and aligned with the programme's module descriptors, all while keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Ensure the design, delivery, and marking of assessments are fair, transparent, and aligned with programme learning outcomes.
  • Lead on the delivery of annual module evaluations, gathering insights to inform curriculum improvements and ensure ongoing programme effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the Annual Programme Monitoring reviews.
  • Assist the Academic Director to prepare and implement plans for new modules and programme-level change, ensuring curriculum relevance and responsiveness to evolving academic needs.
  • Ensure external examiners and Link Tutors are actively involved in the development of teaching and assessment material.
  • Ensure that all assessment and reporting deadlines are met, and accurate records are shared with the relevant Academic Administrator.
  • Ensure that timely arrangements are made to cover classes if Tutors are unable to come to work or are on leave.
Student Support
  • Ensure processes for attendance and engagement monitoring are followed, collaborating with tutors to address any issues promptly and provide necessary support to students.
  • Monitor student progress and provide intervention as needed to facilitate successful progression through the programme, maintaining accurate records of student performance and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with academic and support staff to identify and address barriers to student success, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student achievement.
External stakeholder relations
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key academic contacts at the University, fostering collaboration and communication to maintain and enhance programme quality and enhance the overall student experience and academic outcomes.
  • Contribute to relevant University Partnership Boards and Committees, advocating for programme interests and objectives.
  • Ensure effective communication with Oxford International Academic Teams (Academic Affairs, Quality Assurance, SET) and build relationships with Programmes Leads in other Colleges.
Other activities
  • Plan and deliver up to 15 hours of high-quality teaching a week.

Qualifications
  • A relevant Master's Degree.
  • Teaching qualification (Desirable)
  • Qualification linked to academic management (Desirable)
Experience and knowledge
  • Relevant teaching experience involving international students, preferably within a UK further or higher education context
  • Team leadership/some managerial responsibilities in an educational context (Desirable)
  • Curriculum/course development (Desirable)
  • Experience of contributing to/running CPD sessions (Desirable)
Personal qualities
  • Empathy with international students and an understanding of their needs
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Excellent communication skills, oral & written
  • Understanding of the higher education environment
  • High level IT skills
