L3Harris in Portchester are a market leader in the development, build and integration of systems for a wide range of unmanned marine vehicles with military and commercial applications.

Joining a team of 30 you will work to ensure effective build of Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) to time, cost and quality. You will lead and supervise the production technicians, agency technicians and contractors, to ensure safe operation, good quality and efficient build. You will coordinate production activities, control material and works order within the production area; reporting upon shortages and damage, and ensuring accurate and timely works order completion, support with the investigation of safety concerns, unsafe conditions, quality issues, near-misses and accidents. Deliver toolbox talks as and when required to improve processes and create a safe and positive working environment and support the development of a skilled production team.

What the role will involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

• Run daily Gemba meetings by vessel to capture H&S updates, Quality issues & Build status.
• Support the selection, use and implementation of appropriate production equipment, methods, processes and systems in consultation with production engineering, engineering and qualityteams
• Implement continuous improvements to improve health and safety, quality, cost and efficiency.
• Provide feedback on technician performance, capability and behaviours in order to support development, appraisals and performance management.
• Act as coach and trainer to the production team; providing direct instruction and training, monitoring work and giving feedback, supporting the maintenance of training matrices

The role of Production Team Leader requires the following experience and skills:

• BTEC/HNC/HND in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a marine manufacturing/production engineering role
• Experience and understanding of mechanical fir out/installation
• Working in a project build environment
• Ensure subcontract work is carried out in accordance with best practice, RAMS and Permit to Work.
