Production & Quality Manager

RDM Test Equipment Ltd, Elsenham, Herts.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production & Quality Manager in Elsenham joining a leading manufacturer of industrial test equipment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the complete day-to-day manufacturing activities within the electro-mechanical production facility.

They will be responsible for managing and developing team members to ensure efficient and effective production, whilst maintaining and promoting high standards in both Quality and Health & Safety.

In addition, this role will be expected to perform assembly and inspection responsibilities contributing to the production of finished assemblies.

The ideal candidate will be able to clearly demonstrate a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing and coordinating a small team daily to ensure all products are assembled On-Time and On-Quality through their complete manufacturing lifecycle including stores activities, assembly and inspection. Leading by example, motivating, and supporting team members where required including training and mentoring new members to maximise production efficiency. Co-ordinate production reviews/team meetings with relevant personnel ensuring metrics are current and timely and any subsequent issues escalated accordingly. Ensuring all Health & Safety guidelines and safe working practices are adhered to, performing risk assessments, and maintaining COSHH regulations. Provides a pro-active and flexible approach to solving issues to maintain the production flow. Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements contributing to continuous improvement across all functions. Implement and maintain 5S housekeeping principles and future Lean activities. Ensure accurate maintenance of all production paperwork. Supports product development and change management activity. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to implementing change initiatives.
Skills & Experience:

Ability to lead a small multi skilled team within a manufacturing environment covering all functions and activities from goods in and stores through to assembly, inspection, and dispatch. Working knowledge and experience with Electro-Mechanical Assembly & Inspection processes working to ISO9001. Qualified to a minimum of NVQ-3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and provide detailed work instructions to team members. Experienced in aligning quality standards and inspection requirements. Experience with planning, prioritising and setting workload and resources to meet schedules. To be motivated and proactive with excellent communication skills including with suppliers to resolve any issues. Understanding of Lean tools desirable. Ability to contribute effectively to problem solving taking effective action to resolve issues and encouraging improvement within the team. Able to contribute to product development activities.

The Package:

Salary based on experience and skills.

Full-Time 40 hrs across 5 days with flexibility.

30 days annual holiday including bank holidays, and Christmas shutdown.
