Reporting to the Head of Design & Development/NPD, this is a key position with the overall objective for delivering customer needs in line with their goals.


The role will require you to generate conceptual designs, creating engineering solutions aligned with Eden's manufacturing and outsourced capabilities, that incorporate voice of the customer requirements. Develop new and existing relationships across all customer touch points including problem solving with solutions that protect our margin and service performance, growing our 'moat' through new category expansion in all customers.


Close liaison with all customers and account managers to establish a thorough understanding of the customer brief, manufacturing and sourcing requirements to ensure any required deliverables are met to the agreed quality levels and time scales.

Duties & Responsibilities





Ensure the timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to customer needs and objectives -

delivery on-time, within scope and budget.

The ability to receive and understand design briefs, being knowledgeable in the type of information required, how and when to challenge a brief and have an ability to provide opinions and proposals at the briefing stage. Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs. Liaise between the customer and internal teams to track progress and delivery timelines in conjunction with project execution plan. Participating in site scoping meetings with customers across their entire estate (UK, IRE, & EU). On-site presence during the project and to be initiative-taking in identifying any potential problems or issues which can be highlighted on site and implement counter measures. Conducting thorough site surveys and sharing SAP (or similar) reports with the installation team. The ability to produce high quality engineering drawings in CAD and Inventor, to accurately communicate design engineering requirements. Capable of persuading a customer through design process to influence best outcome for both parties. Own and manage the entire project/prototype process of the design to gain customer approval, including production in which a prototype can be created. Suggest, present & incorporate VAVE ideas into all design briefs to enhance profitability. Attend relevant training and exhibitions/conferences to continuously develop knowledge and skills. Liaises internally across all the relevant support functions to ensure information is presented timely and professionally for Eden to deliver to customer timescales to the expected margin requirements. Communicate with the Sales & Marketing Director & Account Management team a workflow tracker detailing a snapshot of projects and progress against delivery. Execute a seamless handover to the Account Manager and the Project Management team at the point of a secured order thus ensuring that a seamless customer on-boarding experience is achieved. Identify, develop and convert NPD opportunities and grow market share, working alongside Creative Design team supported by a targeted plan that reflects Eden UK's overall strategy, position in the marketplace and competitive drivers. Working with the Commercial Manager, develop and share market intelligence and competitor knowledge to enable the company to secure maximum profit because of informed, intelligent tendering.

Key skills & experience





Design computer literacy is required with proven skills in Inventor or similar works package. Experience in mixed material solutions including but not limited to metal, timber, plastic, glass and graphics. Proven track record of delivering high quality & accurate drawings in CAD and Inventor, to communicate design intent. Demonstrable evidence of developing strong relationships with multi contact points within a customer. Understanding of the customer design decision making process and the ability to articulate solutions to gain new project/initiative work. Ability to plan, organize, communicate and manage customer relationships. Strong presentation and communication skills that can be clearly evidenced and articulated. Very well organized with strong time management skills to manage workload and achieve deadlines. Commercial knowledge and understanding of all profit drivers of a project. Experience in delivering client-focused solutions based on customer needs. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Natural relationship builder with integrity, reliability and maturity. Demonstrate the ability to provide insights and research to create compelling and evidentiary led design story telling. To understand and be mindful during design of responsible design principles and environmental considerations. Understanding of the current industry legislation and any potential impact that needs to be addressed.
