The Times informs, entertains, campaigns and innovates. Our technology team is at the heart of this innovation and helps support a highly creative, multi-channel media operation that has a heritage of modernity, of being first and creating change.
Team:
The Times Media Product team is structured around three core pillars: Subscription Growth, Reader Experience, and Commercial Advertising. As Product Manager - Specialist Titles, you will play a critical role within the Commercial pillar, known as the "tribe."
The Commercial tribe comprises cross-functional squads of Product, Design, and Business Analysis, supported by a dedicated Delivery and Engineering team. This collaborative structure ensures that the team delivers impactful solutions for readers, clients, and partners.
Role:
As the Product Manager - Specialist Titles you will be responsible for executing the product strategy with a specific focus on maturing the commercial offering. You'll have significant latitude to influence the direction of products and their design. Your work will directly shape the experience for readers and commercial partners, enabling The Times to stay at the forefront of innovation in the media industry.
Day to day you will:
Implement the Commercial Tribe Roadmap, working closely with product design and engineering squads to deliver on key initiatives.
Collaborate with design and engineering teams to deliver solutions that meet the needs of both customers and clients.
Use experimentation, user research, and data insights to validate or invalidate assumptions and inform product direction.
Break down high-level initiatives into actionable, releasable pieces of work.
Work closely with internal stakeholders and enable technology teams to deliver successful outcomes.
Spot opportunities to improve the experience for readers and partners while staying ahead of industry trends.
Provide regular updates on roadmap progress, supported by data and clear communication with stakeholders.
Engage with the wider News UK Product team, sharing learnings, best practices, and supporting the development of the Product function.
What we are looking for in you:
Ability to work with and influence others to sell your vision and guide the product journey effectively.
A focus on validating or invalidating assumptions through experimentation and driving incremental impact.
Ability to define solutions that align with roadmap objectives and delivery timeframes, supported by well-defined business cases.
Experience making priority decisions collaboratively and confidently, with the ability to justify those decisions when needed.
Experience working with Ad tech and Engineering teams is desirable, with an understanding of balancing shared, common technology needs with business requirements.
An eye for spotting marketing opportunities and a passion for staying informed about industry developments.
If you believe you have the skills and passion to succeed, even if you don't meet every requirement on the list, we encourage you to apply. We value potential just as much as experience and are eager to hear from individuals who are enthusiastic about learning and growing with us.
At News UK, we know the value of working together, which is why we operate a hybrid working policy with a minimum of three days a week in the office.
