Wellcome Collection is a free museum and library that aims to challenge how we all think and feel about health. Through exhibitions, collections, live programming, digital, broadcast and publishing, we create opportunities for people to think deeply about the links between science, medicine, life and art.
Wellcome is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships.
We plan to spend \xc2\xa316bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate.
These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won\xe2\x80\x99t be solved by science alone.
Where in Wellcome will I be working?
As Product Manager you will lead a multidisciplinary team alongside colleagues across Wellcome Collection. You will report to the Lead Product Manager in the Collections and Digital Department in Wellcome Collection, and work closely with other Collection product teams.
Wellcome has a large digital team with 80+ software engineers, designers, user researchers, product managers, content creators and digital analysts. You will be part of a growing product management community with lots of opportunities to share ideas and good practice.
What will I be doing?
You will manage the design and development of wellcomecollection.org.
Wellcome Collection recently launched a new 10-year strategy. Your team will ensure that our platform, software and services are developed in alignment with our new objectives, that we are designing and developing innovative, sustainable and user-centred products that meet or exceed the expectations of our users, and that diverse audiences engage with our mission.
Working with designers, software developers, data analysts, content creators and stakeholders from across Wellcome, you will help ensure that the platform is open, coherently designed and accessible to everyone; in particular, Deaf, disabled and neuro-divergent people.
You will provide the team with a clear understanding of the problems they are solving, why Wellcome wants to build it, how it will be integrated into the rest of the platform, how it will be used and how we will measure success.
In practice this means that you will need to:
Define and champion the vision for the product and how it fits into the rest of the architecture, serving as the key spokesperson for the product being managed, clearly and convincingly communicating the aims of the product internally and externally;
Day-to-day management of your product and the alignment of your product to the overall departmental strategy and roadmap;
Build and prioritise the product backlog based on effort, research and analysis, testing and need.
