We're on the hunt for a

Product Assurance Engineer

at our Harwell, Stevenage or Manchester offices.



MDA UK: MDA's international footprint in the UK creates opportunities to work with some of the most exciting space industrial players in the country. Delivering all three business area capabilities in Geointelligence, Robotics & Space Operations, and Satellite Systems, our UK team provides support to our European-based customers while specializing in the development of advanced space sensors for exploration missions as well as space-based communication technology. As a Product Assurance Engineer, you will be responsible for the product and quality assurance activities for designed and manufactured or procured electronic units and subsystems. You will develop, apply and maintain quality evaluation and control protocols for products in line with customer requirements. Additional responsibilities include managing all quality-related matters during all phases of projects. You will be working closely with the Product Assurance Manager, hardware and software project team members, suppliers and customers. The role may require national and international travels at a short notice.

Responsibilities:

Manage product and quality assurance related tasks throughout the project lifecycle Prepare project-specific Product Assurance Plans and verify compliance throughout the entire supply chain Support parts, materials and processes selection and quality assurance activities Support design, manufacturing, assembly, integration and test reviews, providing critical inputs as required Participate in customer and supplier design and development reviews Prepare End Item Data Pack (EIDP) and PA documentation such as QSL, CIL and CIDL Lead non-conformances/critical items/change control processes including NRBs, and CCBs Review of processes, drawings, procedures, test data, and inspection records to specifications Support in-house Quality Management System activities and initiatives including internal audits, lessons learned process, continuous improvement and analysis of process and quality metrics Act as a key point of contact for all quality-related activities of customers and suppliers Establish, document and implement quality control procedures to ensure the robustness and quality of manufactured and procured products Promote a quality culture and best practices across throughout the organization Determine quality improvement parameters by establishing statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes

Suitable candidates will ideally have the following attributes:

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

Bachelor's Degree or higher in relevant engineering field 3 - 5 years of experience in Product and Quality Assurance in spaceflight, aerospace, defense or automotive environments Experience in EEE Parts selection and quality assurance Experience in the design, manufacture, and test of electromechanical systems Experience writing technical documents Knowledge or experience of working with European Space Agency ECSS-Q-ST-10, ECSS-Q-ST-60 and ECSS-Q-ST-70 family of standards Knowledge or experience in electronic systems such as digital communications hardware, PCB assemblies, Integrated circuits, etc. Experience with Quality Management Systems e.g. ISO 9001, AS9100 Experience using quality tools, methods and procedures such as APQP, Six sigma, 8D

Desirable

Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following disciplines: RAMS, Radiation effects and Materials and Processes Supplier quality management experience Experience of working with international standards such as IPC, JEDEC, and MIL Training in quality engineering e.g. APQP, Six sigma Experience or knowledge of the following would be advantageous: + Robotics and optical subsystems
+ Ground support equipment
+ Manufacturing processes e.g. soldering, coating, bonding, plating, etc.
+ Harness design and fabrication methods
