About the role...
The core responsibility of this role is to develop / implement improvements to manufacturing processes and to drive continuous improvement, consistency of product quality and delivery, across Military Vehicle Assembly.
Key duties include, but are not limited to:
'Hands on' individual and first point of contact for any shop floor related queries associated with build / quality concerns. This is to understand and engage the correct level of support to fix.
Conduct initial review of impact of Engineering change on a process and feedback to Manufacturing Engineer recommended next steps.
Lead process layout design eg material / tooling / equipment, ensuring lean principles are followed.
Writing of simple repair schemes (more complex will be written by Manufacturing Engineer).
Provide process design input at early stages in the new product development process.
Develop processes to improve dimensional stability from effective jigging / fixture / alignment.
Continuously drive efficiency improvements that reduce the build hours/product.
Carry out standardised work confirmations to include coaching of shop floor personnel, to ensure compliance to processes and understanding levels of variance / diversion and opportunities for improvement.
Support A3 problem solving activities.
Ensure tooling maintenance plans are adhered to.
Implement a customer focused, operational improvement culture to shop floor.
Ensure that Environmental, Health and Safety, manufacturing and quality standards and procedures are adhered to.
What we're looking for...
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
Detailed product build knowledge
Technical skill set developed in complex engineering environments
Successful track record of manufacturing excellence
Experience in a similar role within an industrial or technical environment
Ability to impart knowledge on others in an effective manner.
Ability to document, capture & 'train-out' new & amended SOPs.
Planning experience using SAP and Ideally trained in SAP
HNC or HND, or an Advanced/Higher Apprenticeship in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering
